Main Accountabilities

  • Overall responsible for developing the national Brand Marketing Plans for one or more categories in Home Care divisions. Both annual marketing plan and longer term category strategy.
  • Represents his/her category in the Country-Category Business Teams (CCB); voice of consumer in CCBT
  • Building business partnerships with global category/brand team as well as local customer development, finance, and supply chain functions
  • Monitoring brand performance and implementing solutions
  • Leads the development and execution of launch and re-launch plans using funds efficiently to achieve measurable objectives.
  • Leads the deployment of communication content in the local market at all relevant consumer and shopper touch points.
  • Drives performance evaluation of national support activities and in-store implementation against measurable objectives and relentlessly seeks ways to improve effectiveness of investments

Business risk if the job holder makes the wrong decisions

Low. CCBTs are finally accountable, but risk taking is encouraged for this role. Schedule of authority helps prevents wrong decisions. Normal company code of business ethics and policies apply.

Key Challenges:

  • Growing business (topline) through Unilever’s 4G lens during recession and media/advertising restrictions.
  • Consumer understanding without regular market research tools being available.
  • Protecting profit (bottomline) without losing competitiveness.
  • Driving purposeful brands at scale and in an authentic way.
  • Designing effective consumer promotion mechanisms for GT market.

  • Internal cross functional teams (CD, FIN, SC)

PROBLEM SOLVING

High – One of the more senior marketing roles in the company. Needs to manage both external and internal problems such as competitor attack and response, supply issues, competitive pricing, product quality issues, and rural market development.

CHANGE

High – This role is responsible for category strategies and over the next 2-5 years, including launch, relaunch, and activation of the brands managed. Changes made may impact cross-functional teams such as SC production and delivery, and CD distribution model.

LATERAL TEAMWORK

  • Negotiates with Regional teams to get the most relevant assets for the brands
  • Liaises with CCD in developing strategic thrust for effective market execution
  • Advises HC/BPC division head in long term category decisions
  • Obtains information from Finance for performance monitoring and in sighting
  • Negotiates with Supply Chain for most cost-effective Regional Sourcing and accurate demand and supply planning leading to product manufacturing

ENVIRONMENT

  • Briefs Media, Activation, and Creative Agencies for market activation such as product packaging, Above and below the line advertising, in-store activation, and brand campaigns/promotions
  • Liaises with Research Agencies to gather consumer insight

JOB REQUIREMENT

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Ideally 8-15 years of Marketing experience preferably for FMCG products
  • Experience developing concepts and brand communication
  • Demonstrated high performance in project management
  • Strategic thinking (sound attention for details without losing focus on big picture)
  • Passion of experiencing in working as a partner with FMCG business unit to drive the organization performance/ growth
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and local language
  • Good leadership skills and able to manage multiple tasks under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment
