JOB PURPOSE:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Safety, Health, and Environment Auditor (Line of Defence 2) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for auditing compliance with SHE standards across IC sites, including factories, distribution centres, offices, and R&D facilities. This role requires extensive travel with colleagues and expertise in SHE standards to ensure our sites meet the highest levels of compliance and IC market leading commitments to Safety, Health and the Environment are realised.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and agree the SHE audit plan.

  • Lead comprehensive SHE audits at various company sites globally.

  • Evaluate compliance with internal and external SHE standards and regulations.

  • Identify areas of non-compliance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement.

  • Prepare detailed audit reports and present findings to senior management.

  • Summarise themes from the individual audits to look for systemic gaps and present to senior leaders. 

  • Collaborate with site management to develop and implement corrective action plans.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure continuous improvement.

  • Stay updated on the latest internal and external SHE standards and regulations and best practices.

  • Design and deploy an efficient and effective internal (Line of Defence 2) Audit programme which is continuously improved.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED: 

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE:

  • In-depth knowledge of SHE standards (e.g Process Safety, Environmental compliance and Occupational Health and safety Management) and regulations. This includes global and local regulations relevant to the audited sites.

  • Experience with SHE auditing processes and methodologies and overall UL Audit programme.

  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements and how they apply to specific site operations

  • Specialist technical experience in Process Safety or Environmental or Industrial Hygiene is essential.

ANALYTICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to comprehend and synthesise a site risk profile

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Attention to detail and ability to identify potential risks and non-compliance issues.

COMMUNICATIONSKILLS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise audit reports.

  • Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate findings to senior management.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with site teams and senior management.

  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse environments.

PERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Strong commitment to ethical standards and integrity

  • Ability to hold people accountable 

  • Healthy curiosity to get the bottom of issues

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS:

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple audits and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree qualified in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineeringor a related field.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) are highly desirable.

  • Experience in SHE, Auditing, Engineeringor a related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time).

  • Proficiency in using audit management software and tools.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

As publicly announced, it is envisaged that Unilever will internally separate its Ice Cream business by July 2025, at which point this role will transfer to the new Ice Cream company. It is expected that the Ice Cream business will then separate from Unilever by the end of 2025. Any impact on terms and conditions of employment will be communicated in due course. This proposal is subject to consultation where legally required.
