BACKGROUND
Unilever International (UI) is an alternative but complimentary route to market business, servicing white space opportunities not exploited by local operating countries. It is a global opco offering a diverse range of products sourced from over 80+ SUs/3PMs and utilizing 1000+ 3rd party distributors and consolidators to reach consumers in over 150 markets. The business is headquartered in Singapore and has employeesoperating largely from 7 key hubs (Singapore, US, UK, Korea, India, Dubai and France). The UI global sales of €1.2 billion in 2023 are invoiced from 35+ Unilever legal entity. The business master data, transactional and P&L information resides across all SAP instances of Unilever and the performance is reported in 130+ iFinance reporting BU.
Global Institutional Customers unit under Unilever International consists of Global Master Distributors, GIN (Government, Institution, NGOs) and Scoot (small customers supported via central service model) set up as separate business units centrally manage with the capability to design and create mixes tailored for the channel, including supply chain capability to service. The mission of these units is to bring Unilever’s well-loved consumer brands to the growing requirements of specific group of customers or end-users under-served in the current RtM structure by leveraging strategic partnerships in key markets to establish a global footprint swiftly.
The purpose of this role is to provide finance/ commercial business partnering to the business team in the areas of performance management, CD finance, Supply chain finance and Risk and controls. This role will also be involved in evaluating new business opportunities and liaison with business groups, other hubs and Singapore HQ to share best practice. The role offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person to demonstrate ownership of the full P&L, develop all round finance and business acumen, and would allow an ambitious and successful candidate to progress further within the organisation and within their career. The roles also offer line management experience.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Key business partner and trusted finance advisor to the Business Development Teams across GIC, GIN & Scoot to drive performance management, decision support, strategy formulation and strategy into action.
Performance Management: He/she will be actively participating on driving growth and profitability, pricing decision, managing risk, challenging business teams, managing costs across all geographies and P&L drivers. Drive Insights and Actions with focus on: Growth, Efficiency of investments (ROMI), Portfolio Mix, Pricing and Costs.
Month end activities: including monthly forecasting, prepare all rolling forecasts and business plans for both brands, channel, geography. Month end P&L review and analysis, including review actuals vs forecast and identify key issues to promote accountability and raise early warning signals to drive opportunities.
New Business Model: Support integration and analysis of new business opportunities and Projects, including but not limited to Financial Flow Modelling, Operational Setup, Business case and KPIs.
Operational / Financial Processes: Drive Internal Operational Planning, Marketing Activity Planning and Pricing Decisions. Review TTS and BMI investment request and Claims from customers. Assess ROI performance and identify opportunities for better returns and growth. Co-pilot pricing decision with business development leads, including price approvals.
Working Capital: Ensure efficient Working Capital via Debtors Management procedures: Collections, Claims, Overdue management, Invoicing review and outstanding items,
Controls: Ensure financial records are in compliance with accepted policies, procedures and external/SOX controls requirements. Ensure robustness of internal controls including clear segregation of duties, disciplined implementation of schedule of authority, robust payment approval/verification process, credit assessment, budgetary system.
Develop close working relationships with the Global UI Finance team and share best practices across the broader UI finance team. Any other work or duties assigned by the management
