Job Summary:

The Tax and Treasury Analyst at Unilever ANZ reports to the Financial Accountant and has a dotted line to the Financial Controller. Supported by an offshore team of analysts, this role requires strong leadership and organizational skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

UNDERSTAND BUSINESS NEEDS & BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS

  • Build strong relationships within the Unilever ANZ Finance and IT teams in order to partner and provide support on tax and treasury matters.

  • Develop an understanding of the Unilever business model and the impact of developments on the business. Support the ANZ Tax & Treasury Managers in communicating and acting on any developments.

  • Update, create and maintain desktop procedures relating to treasury and tax process and procedures performed by OSP, offshore teams or internally.   

ANTICIPATE AND LEAD CHANGE

  • Strong understanding of SAP and accounting to be lead support on any global changes or developments.

  • Keep up to date on market technology and processes which can be used internally for automation or process simplification.

  • Act as a SAP lead for ANZ tax (e.g. responsibility for journals and process improvements, and support changes required in the treasury and tax space).

  • Take lead role on certain automation and outsourcing projects, with guidance and support from ANZ Tax & Treasury Managers.

  • Present to the business and stakeholders on changes to processes, developments and outsourcing steps.

  • Assist the ANZ Tax & Treasury Managers with preparation for bi-annual FinFlex meetings.

SUPPORT CONSULTATION AND PLANNING

  • Remain up to date with tax and treasury risks and opportunities affecting ANZ.

  • Support the ANZ Tax & Treasury Managers as required on projects including M&A and divestments.

  • Support OSP and offshore teams (where required by the ANZ Tax & Treasury Managers) by providing inputs and responses relating to compliance matters.

SUPPORT NON-ROUTINE COMPLIANCE

  • Provide support to the ANZ Tax Manager on audits and disputes.

  • Work with the ANZ Tax Manager on responses to streamlined assurance reviews, collection of defence data and presentations to stakeholders.

  • Complete and maintain calculations relating to non-routine compliance (e.g. calculation of debt ratios).

ACCOUNTING

  • Assistance with preparation of the relevant disclosures (e.g. tax note) for the Australian and New Zealand statutory accounts.

  • Complete Australia and NZ tax quarterly journals and balance sheet reconciliations for review.

  • Assist with the preparation of forecasts.

GENERAL

  • Undertake training and development as per development plan.

  • Willingness to learn and support the ANZ Tax & Treasury Managers on new projects and opportunities as they arise.

  • Carry out filing, archiving and other administrative activities.

  • 5-7 years’ experience within finance.

  • Prior experience in a tax or treasury role preferred.

  • Degree qualified in accounting or business

  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work autonomously.

  • Ability to deal with internal customers and external regulators.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Strong team commitment and results delivery orientation.

  • Ability to use computerised accounting and personal computer systems
