JOB PURPOSE

This Insider Trust & Forensic Investigations Director role is tasked with delivering a robust insider trust capability along with heading up internal cyber incident forensic investigations. These activities will be conducted with a ‘Risk Based’ approach to help individual parts of the business manage cyber risk in their area.

Role Summary:

The Insider Trust & Forensic Investigations Director role within Unilever’s Cyber Security function will be accountable for enabling security through a robust insider trust capability. They will also be accountable for leading on Cyber Forensic Investigations as necessitated by cyber incidents and the Security Operations Centre. This senior leadership position will report to the Director of Threat Intelligence.

Key areas under this role delivered by the Insider Trust & Forensic Investigations Team:

  • Design and delivery of Unilever’s Insider Trust program, as an employee value proposition for the company’s most sensitive and vulnerable roles (as targets for threat actors and fraudsters)
  • Build out of an advanced, dynamic protection mechanism for the data, processes, and systems those roles interact with.
  • Assessing the risk posed by insiders in all areas of our organization and advising on risk mitigation activities.
  • Being involved in cyber incidents where insider threats may play a role.
  • Implementing and maintaining insider trust solutions across the organization.
  • Heading up cyber forensic investigations as necessitated by the SOC and developing cyber incidents.
  • Reporting findings from cyber forensic investigations to relevant areas of the business and advising on potential improvements to processes, standards, policies, and technology to mitigate the risk of a repeat occurrence.

The position calls for a strategic individual who is able to roll their sleeves up tactically to understand business operations, digital transformation, cloud, applications, information technology (IT), operational technology (OT), internet of things (IoT) and Cyber Security. This leader will utilize her/his knowledge and experience to assist with the implementation of an effective global cyber security program that ensures the overall cyber security posture of the company is aligned with business needs and balanced to protect in the evolving threat landscape. This role supports the Global CISO in building strong relationships with internal leaders and senior executives, along with the other senior Cyber Security leadership team, on matters of cyber security and cyber risk, to foster the execution of cyber security as a business enabler.

Main Accountabilities

  • Accountable for assessing and reporting the risk posed by insider threats.
  • Accountable for acting as a trusted advisor to the business on matters where insider trust plays a role.
  • Accountable for heading up cyber forensic investigations and reporting findings and recommendations to the relevant areas of our organization.
  • Attracting, managing, developing, and leading senior colleagues.

Key Skills and Relevant Experience

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to be understood by both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a senior team.
  • The ability to lead through accountability with delegated responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple tasks.
  • Stakeholder management and interpersonal skills at both a technical and non-technical level.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with international team members.
  • Outstanding critical reasoning and problem-solving skills – sticking to the problem until it is resolved.
  • Customer-orientated, whether responding to queries or delivering new services.
  • Skills in Programme and Project Management.

Experience:

  • The role holder will have previously held a senior leadership role in Cyber Security.
  • Experience and a proven track record in Cyber Security and specifically Insider Risk and/or Cyber Forensics.
  • Significant international Cyber Security experience with Global 500 companies or similar.
  • Experience within a customer focused environment.
  • Knowledge of the applications or the technical landscape within the domain and experience of delivering Cyber Security projects to its demands.

Recruitment Fraud

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs.  These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate. 

How is Unilever tackling this?

Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
