JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll management for all Unilever employees, integrating statutory obligations, audit controls, and stakeholder coordination. It serves as a key function bridging HR, finance, and legal teams to deliver seamless payroll operations while safeguarding data privacy and driving process enhancements.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
Payroll Processing:
- Managing payroll for white collar & blue collar approximately 2000+ employees and handling employees queries. Liaisoning with salary input providers for any query and ensuring all approvals in place.
- Adhering to payroll controls and governance and ensuring 100% compliance.
- Ensuring income tax deduction and other statutory deductions as per applicable law and depositing monthly TDS and filing IT returns.
- Approvals of loan as per the policy and processing in payroll system. Sharing schedules with regional team
- Payroll accounting and sharing monthly payroll related reports with different stake holders.
- Coordination with treasury team for funds arrangement for payroll disbursement also handling all bank related queries.
- Managing shares deductions & submission of shares file to Global/UK team on monthly basis.
- Provide Support to local Tax team & Deloitte (Local & Global) for Tax returns of our IA's and STA's. Reconciliation & Submission of Annual Tax Reports to Local Govt.
- Processing full and final settlements. Adhering to F&F checklist
- Reconciliation of payroll with various lenses for 100% accuracy
- Vendor management for timely and 100% accurate payroll processing.
- Adhering to payroll approvals processes and payroll disbursement thru bank portal.
- Collecting life certificates from pensioners
- Payment of medical reimbursement of factories
- Liaisoning with global mobility team and host country for cross charging for STA host-based employees.
- Processing Joiner, Leaver and Movers working in accordance with the payroll calendar.
- Payroll orientation in weekly onboarding sessions.
Audit & Controls
- Check monthly controls as per global control framework and ensuring 100% compliance.
- Share the monthly report with GFA department for the monthly control
- Handling internal and external statutory and Sox audit end to end
- Maintaining data confidentiality for employee’s personal data
- Bringing automation in current processes. Coordinating with reward and tax team on innovative ideas for salary and benefits
- Booking of accruals for the annual budget and coordinating with finance partners for any queries on accruals or monthly salary accounting
- Liaisoning with reward / tax and legal team for incorporating any statutory amendment or new policy in payroll system.
HR Operations
- Support HR in resolving local ER / IR issues (including payroll errors / rejects, grievances, any dispute).
- Ensuring Unilever’s compliance with local legislation by maintaining relationships with the relevant bodies, representing local sessions, and maintaining relevant payroll records.
- Ensuring Unilever’s HR data accuracy and privacy by liaising with the HR Shared service center on data management activities (position management, data cleansing, reporting lines etc.)
Keyinterfaces and relevant stakeholders for this role:
- You report directly to the Senior Manager Finance Payroll & Funds
- You work with local employee representative bodies.
- You interface with the Global HR Expertise & Payroll teams
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Experience & Qualifications
- 6-8 years of HR Generalist experience focused on payroll and labor relations.
- Good knowledge of local employment / labor laws
- Working knowledge of HRIS systems (e.g. Workday, SuccessFactors, Sofcom)
