Job Purpose
Unilever requires an effective data strategy to power the future of media, marketing, and commerce. As the Associate Director of Data Strategy and Technology, you will be a pivotal enterprise leader driving the design, implementation, and stewardship of Unilever’s media and marketing data ecosystem. You will also lead Data Acquisition and Consumer Relationship Management (CRM), ensuring Unilever acquires and deploys data in the most efficient and effective ways possible to fuel media impact.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Data Leadership
- Define and evolve Unilever’s media and marketing data strategy across platforms, partners, and internal systems.
- Champion data governance principles to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance across all media and CRM data sources.
Data Integration
- Lead the internal data workstream including taxonomy design, data onboarding, and integration with analytics and activation platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, Legal, Procurement) to ensure seamless execution.
Media Strategy Enablement
- Build and evolve a holistic media strategy rooted in consumer insights with a focus on acquiring and deploying data efficiently and effectively.
- Architect data flows that support the new media model, enabling precision planning, buying, and measurement.
Data Acquisition & CRM
- Own the strategy and execution of data acquisition across media, commerce, and consumer touchpoints.
- Manage partner relationships to ensure data access, quality, and alignment with Unilever’s strategic goals.
- Negotiate data rights, usage terms, and integration protocols with external partners.
Technology & Vendor Management
- Oversee relationships with media data and technology vendors, ensuring alignment to Unilever’s strategic roadmap.
- Evaluate emerging solutions and maintain a best-in-class capabilities and data stack for media and commerce.
Governance & Compliance
- Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, including access controls, benchmarking/audits, and direct consumer requests.
- Ensure compliance with US privacy regulations and Unilever’s internal data policies.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in media, marketing technology, or data strategy roles.
• Proven track record in building and managing enterprise data systems, preferably in CPG or retail media environments.
• Deep understanding of media measurement, targeting data, and advertising technology ecosystems (e.g. CDP, Clean Rooms)
• Experience with data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strategic thinker with a bias for action and execution.
• Collaborative leader who thrives in performance-based environments.
• Curious and creative problem-solver with a passion for data integrity and innovation.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity across complex initiatives.
Pay: The pay range for this position is $141,680 to $212,520. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
