Background
UniOps Tax Data Centre of Excellence team in Unilever is responsible for collection, analysis of tax and finance data and performing / supporting tax compliance, tax reporting and tax audit, in the areas related to direct tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing. The team is also responsible for monitoring the tax control framework and co-development of tax related technology infrastructure along with IT team and maintaining Global Process Model (GPM) and exceptions resolution for tax related issues
Main purpose of job:
The Global Tax function has launched the Future of Tax (FOT) transformation project under the Digital Finance umbrella. As part of the Future of Tax project, compliance work related to direct tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing will be done by UniOps Commercial Experience Team, under a new target Operating Model (TOM). The new TOM will involve tax related work to be performed across Global Tax team, Country Tax Team, UniOps and 3rd party consultant (Big 4s).
The UniOps team is envisioned to be the central tax data organization with the responsibility to deliver good quality data. The team will manage tax data in order to improve the efficiency of the tax operations in a cost-effective manner.
UniOps team’s vision is to build an externally benchmarked, world class Tax Data COE which delivers End to End high-quality, accurate financial information for effective decision making and meeting regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements of the Role
- Responsible for the smooth delivery of the tax compliance work across various countries
- Ensure that all agreed KPIs in the tax process and met
- Provide recommendations for a best in class process for Direct/Indirect Tax
- Lead the deployment of global tools and technology for tax in various countries
- Drive continuous improvement and process efficiencies
- Lead, coach and develop team
- End to end management of Direct/Indirect Tax data with focus on hygiene of master data and transactional data
- Overview of direct tax related entries in the books of accounts, after sign off from country tax team
- Ensure on time and accurate preparation and submission of Tax returns of certain selected countries across the globe
- Ensure all tax related payments to government / tax authorities are done as per the timelines in respective countries.
- Ensure all tax related controls and compliance are met as per the Unilever control framework
- Closely work with Unilever global tax teams & Outsourced Service Providers regarding latest changes/amendments in various direct tax laws across the globe.
- Provide clarification on the tax data provided to relevant stakeholders.
- Support in country tax audits by providing adequate documentation / data support/analysis of data
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of Tax – Direct/Indirect/Withholding Tax/Transfer Pricing
- Working knowledge of Deferred Tax, Advance Tax, Tax Adjustments
- Good knowledge of accounting in the area of tax
- End user knowledge required in SAP (FI module).
- Awareness of about the latest tools/technology for tax related work
- Digital awareness to drive process improvements
- Successful transition of financed activities to a Global Hub

- Strong leadership – should be able to lead and develop a team
- Should have a positive attitude and should be able to proactively get work done
- Strong problem solving, and analytical skills
- Good Stakeholder Management - Must have the ability to effectively communicate with senior personnel inside and outside of the company.
- Must be a self-starter with proven ability to take ownership of job responsibilities.
Educational Qualification and Experience
- Qualified CA/CPA with 6-7 years of experience preferred
- Certification on international taxation would be an added advantage.
- Experience in leading transitions in shared services environment would be an added advantage
