PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The HR IT Solutions Architect is responsible for providing technical leadership in driving the HR systems ecosystem / architecture strategy and roadmap for global HR solutions. The HR IT solution architect will partner with HR CoEs, HR Expertise teams, HR product teams, HRIT, Data & Analytics teams, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure and Cyber Security to ensure the end state solutions meet the standards, design and implementation approaches for business, HR and our workforce.

The Architect will review the business context for solutions to HR challenges and define the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options. He/she will partner with the HR CoEs, Enterprise Architecture and HR IT on maximizing our investments, selection of new products, and integration of our ecosystem. He/she will be a leader in understanding HR technology trends to identify new capabilities, make recommendations, conduct proof of concepts, evolve our standards, and make recommendations to our broader HR technology teams.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand HR needs and design solutions that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform the continuous evolution of the HR technology strategy.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the HR IT function through the thought leadership and implementation of a scalable technology ecosystem.

  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with external vendors, ensuring the integration of innovative solutions into HR processes.

  • Partner across HR and the enterprise to connect the dots and maximize our investments in HR technology.

  • Design solutions that are extensible, reusable, secure, reliable, cost optimized, operationally excellent, and performant.

  • Develop and maintain the multi-year HR technology roadmap and strategy in collaboration with HR IT Leads and HR CoEs.

  • Develop solution options, recommendations, designs based on domain roadmaps/requirements, enterprise security standards and reference architectures.

  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, innovations, and outsourced partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value.

  • Lead and coordinate technical reviews (architectural, security, compliance, etc.)

  • Leverage recognized technical and business expertise to influence, guide, and shape business strategy and decision- making across HR.

  • Provide expert technical advice to domain delivery team and monitor solution compliance with Unilever’s architecture principles.

  • Provide consultation, design input, and feedback for application development and design reviews for HR system implementations.

  • Effectively collaborate with global teams to deliver solutions.

  • Advocate and drive adoption of "standard methodologies" to ensure standardization of solution designs across the enterprise.

  • Has in-depth understanding of the product and services portfolio roadmaps of multiple HR CoEs.

EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Experience & Qualifications  

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Experience:  10+ years of experience in HR technology, including deploying large-scale global HR technology projects

  • Technical Skills: 5+ years of combined experience as an Enterprise Architect, HR IT Engineer, Solution Architect, Technical Consultant in an environment with a combination of SaaS and custom developed systems

  • Project Management: Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications 

  • Project Management: Experience managing timelines, deliverables, and coordinating multiple work streams is beneficial.

  • Strong understanding of architecture and design principles: This includes knowledge of design patterns, best practices, and industry standards such as TOGAF, Zachman framework, and others.

  • Experience with different types of solutions: Experience with web applications, mobile applications, enterprise applications, and data systems is essential for a solution architect.

  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and experience working in agile environments.

  • Knowledge of Workday and other HR systems, HR technology platforms, automation tools, and enterprise architecture.

  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end HR processes and systems including talent acquisition, core HCM, performance management, payroll, compensation, and benefits and ability to define dependencies and connect the dots across the technology landscape.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Outstanding analytical, problem solving and fact-finding skills.

  • Designing and integrating software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture

  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at the most senior organizational levels.

  • Ability to understand the HR’s business problem, need, or opportunity and to design a solution that completely and correctly addresses the need.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.

  • Ability to identify, clarify and resolve project issues and risks as needed.

  • Strong relationship building skills to effectively partner with HR CoEs and other internal teams and external vendors.

  • Ability to manage time and resources efficiently and effectively.
